EDUC 1501 - Effective Substitute Teaching


(2L)(2CR) This course is designed for community members and current college students who desire to learn skills and knowledge to be effective substitute teachers. More specifically: learn to apply professional teacher ethics and responsibilities; the application of effective classroom/behavioral management techniques; application of best practices and instructional strategies to address individual student learning differences. Training will also be provided for interactive technologies that are currently used in K-12 classrooms. The course will also review the credentials and process needed to apply for a Wyoming Substitute Teaching Permit through Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board (PTSB).

Post-course completion does not automatically provide eligibility for PTSB Substitute Permit. Individuals will need to complete the PTSB application which includes a background check, 60 college credits (official transcript), and pay required fees to PTSB.
