4.0 Policy
The policy of Casper College is to ensure the following:
4.1. Any employee who decides to run for public office, prior to or at the time of filing for that office, provides notification to their supervisor of their intention to run.
4.2 Employees do not engage in campaigning or soliciting support during regular work or involve the use of college branding, funds, services, email, equipment, facilities or other college resources.
4.2 Any employee who is elected or appointed to a public office must engage with their supervisor to discuss the duties of the elected office and the employee’s ability to carry out the duties of the employee’s position with the college.
4.3 If it is determined that the employee is able to carry out the duties of the employee’s position while serving as an elected official, the employee will request leave for time away from work. Employees who are eligible for paid annual leave must use their accrued annual leave.
4.5 If political service absences adversely affect the capability of the employee to fulfill their job requirements, the employee’s status will be re-evaluated by their supervisor in collaboration with Human Resources. The employee may resign or seek approval from the Board of Trustees for a leave of absence without pay. If a leave of absence is granted, the leave of absence will be determined by the board.
