Construction Staking and GPS Certificate

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Programs of Study

Construction staking is the process of taking plans for roads, buildings, and other improvements to a site and mapping and staking them out on the real-world site where the construction will take place. This plays a vital role in helping builders make the leap from plans (construction documents) to actual construction work. Most often, the mapping and staking of the plans are done utilizing global positioning systems (GPS) to find important points such as the centerline of a road, the edge of a curb and gutter, or the corner of a building. This certificate is for those entering the horizontal/civil construction industry as well as a stackable credential.
